Welcome to the Foyer

When I asked my husband, who is always full of good ideas..., what to call this little place were we could get together and chat, get caught up on news, throw around ideas and just socialize a bit, he suggested the foyer. I thought it was perfect. After all, isn't that where we all go to chat. Anyways, I plan on updating this as often as I can with news and responses to your comments.

August 3rd, 2009 -
Pretty bad, huh? It's been a while since my last entry. Since then we have moved 3 times. We are now located in Lake Park, Georgia. Hot, humid and full of southern Georgia charm. All the temples are done. I plan on keeping up with them as the underconstruction ones become dedicated. But in the mean time I am looking forward to finishing some others I have been working on; like the Garden of Eden and Christ Calming the Sea. We might even start a block of the month. But that might be pushing it. Let's see what kind of calling I get in the new ward. Last year was a tough one. Seminary teacher and quilt designer didn't go too well together. That is why I worked so hard to get them all done this summer. I hope you enjoy them. And check back in for more fun patterns. - Kay -

October 1th, 2005 -
Wow, where did the year go? It's seasonal time again. Can you believe I am five temple done from having the United States completed? I can't! When I found out how close I was so excited, I got 6 temples done last month. (They were all kind of similar, that's my secret.) I am going to try to get the last five done this month. We'll have to have some kind of celebration when I do.

Keep a watch out on the Specials Page. That is where I'll have the party.

January 7th, 2005 - Happy New Year!!!
Boy am I excited about the new year. I am going to be a new person. Do the dishes directly after dinner, mop my floors more often and.....dust. And of course keep up the website and design more patterns. Last year I didn't get to design as many as temples as I did the first, but there was a lot of "business stuff" I had to attend to. That was no fun. I really want to get back to creating more. I either need to hire an accountant or pattern tester!

I'm trying to go out to California in March for the California Women's Association, but I haven't heard back from my application I sent in. If any of you have any strings to pull, I'd love it!

I hope you like the new website layout. It's a little cleaner and easier I think. Let me know if you see any typos!

Have a happy new year.

Kay

March 1, 2004 - 1000 patterns, Can you believe it. I can't. It's been alot of work, but I like what I do, so I guess I am one of the lucky ones. My goal is still to get all the Temples done, but since I have been flooded with other requests, I had to put the Latter Day Squares out. Of course, some of them, especially the Seagulls was instant inspiritaion when I saw the materials. Thanks to all of you who have encouraged me and supported me with your kind e-mails. And thanks to all of you who bought one of my first 1000 patterns!!!

July 1, 2003 - Well, we're all moved in. Not unpacked, just moved in. I have a feeling I will be unpacking for the next year. How much junk I have collected!!! I have desperatly kept up with the orders although the designing went on hold for a while. I did get Cardston done for all those anxious Canadians. I hope you like it.

My new address is 3211 Blue Jay, Corinth TX 76210. Please let me know if you have had any problems with the mail. I sent two test letters to myself to see the the forwarding was working and neither one has shown up yet. Just make sure you send mail orders to 3211 Blue Jay and we'll both be alright. I hope to start keeping up with more consistency. The last three months have been doozies. I'm waiting for my life to get back to normal, but my friends say that'll never happen. Optimists!

9/2002 - Over Labor Day weekend, hubby and I took off for a fun little trip. We dropped the kids off and the g-parent's house and went on what we called the heartland temple tour. (Maybe some of you saw us, zipping in to your temple parking lot in a little blue Saturn. Hubby calls it BYU blue.) We saw both Memphis and Nashville Temples. Then buzzed up to Louisville, KY. Saint Louis, MO was next. That was beautiful and a nice change of scenery. We had to take a break to go up the great Arch. I didn't know you could go in it!!! That set a us a little behind schedule, and we almost took Winter Quarters off the itinerary. But I was so glad we kept it on. What a wonderful experience that was. It was worth the extra hours. We hit OK City on the way home. That was Nine States in 3 days. I have a very obliging husband. You can look forward to these temple designs as soon as I get the pictures developed. AND, once I've done one of the small temples that will lead to many more small temples, like Edmonton....

10/02/02 - I was wondering what if anyone is interested in a different view of the Manti Temple?? I had a friend tell me that she thinks the side view that the pagent is on is the more recognized view. Let me know what do you think? E-mail Me

Enrichment Nights - I have been asked about Enrichment nights. Although it will probably take more than one night to complete, I still think it is a great idea. And since Enrichment night would necessitate the purchasing of many patterns, one for each individual, contact me if you have a group of 15 or more and we'll work out a group discount.(The same applies to quilt guilds!)

11/04/02 - Things slowed down a little bit last week...I had to sew some halloween costumes! But I'm back in the saddle again (Texas Humor) I've tried three different views of the San Diego Temple. It's a doozie, I tell you. But you guys want it so I will keep working on it. Thanks for all your recent orders, they keep me motivated. I sure would like to post some of your projects in the gallery, not just mine.

11/26/02 Well, it's finally done, San Diego. Whew! I think I am going to take a little break and enjoy some holidays. I will be catching up on some of the little temples that I have a basic pattern for. I will individualize some, Memphis, Nashville, Louisville, OK City, Raleigh NC, Columbia SC and a few others I've been to. But I will also have the basic pattern, so if I can't keep up with your reguests, you can use the basic pattern and adapt it for your own temple.

I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving. See you in December!

2/17/03 Okay, so a friend of mine told me I really need to update the foyer. A lot has been happening. First off, Temple Tour #2. My husband was in Atlanta on business and I was able to tag along. That is when I took the pictures for the North and South Carolina, Birmingham and Atlanta Temples. That really helped me get motivated to do the small modern temples. They have turned out quite fun and easy, except Oklahoma City. It is a little tricky with the courtyard, patio thing out front.

We are planning Temple Tour #3. My brother in law is getting married in March in the Mt Timp Temple. I plan on getting the rest of the Utah Temples then, specifically Vernal and Monticello. I am also working on side views of Manti, (done, in the testing phase,) and Salt Lake City, (still sketchy). So be patient, they are coming.

I also thought I would let you know that there are a few stores that are starting to carry the Quilt A Temple patterns. Most of the quilt stores in Utah have received info from me, they just haven't placed orders, YET. I bet if you asked them, and they saw the demand, they might start carrying them. Right now my retail stores are, Mormon Handicraft in Salt Lake City, Family Fabrics in Bountiful, Dave's Bernina in Provo and Mormon Handicraft in St George. There is also a big maybe for Generations Bookstore in Edmonton Canada. Let them know you want them to carry the patterns, all you Canadians!

I need to go, my seven year old is turning eight and we have a baptism to plan. Happy Birthday Katie!

It's been a while. I hope you all had a Happy Easter. We are looking forward to the end of school now. Things are changing for my family, we are moving. I am telling you this because you might be wondering about the change of address. To ensure, that things don't get TOTALLY messed up, I went and got a post office or "Personal Mail Box". The new permanent address will be posted in a couple months. But this should only affect mail in orders, it might take a day or two longer. Just make sure all orders go to the Bethany address. I will still be filling orders as usual both Paypal and mail-in's.
