Christine from Orlando
I just wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed your pattern for the Orlando Temple and what I am using it for. I am the Relief Society President in my ward. My Enrichment counselor (who has since moved) and I shared a love of sewing and creativity. I wanted to start a project to present each YW with a quilt when she turned 18 as a transition gift to welcome her into Relief Society. Other wards have done the same thing and I have heard interesting stories about how important those quilts became to the girls as they left home for college and other endeavors. I started thinking about what kind of a quilt to do; I didn't want them to be simple tied quilts.

I found your website on the internet and decided I wanted to give each YW a quilt with the Orlando temple at its center. My hope is that they will keep the temple as their goal and anchor as they make some of the most important decisions of their lives. Some we have given quilts to are barely active but my hope is that their quilts will make some small difference in their lives, perhaps later. So far we have given 4 quilts with 4 more currently being worked on. I do all the paper piecing (since my friend and counselor has moved).

The pictures I have included do not show the temple detail very well. I have changed the temple fabrics a little each time. I am thinking of using the 12 x 12 square to make some prayer quilts to keep in the RS closet for sisters in the hospital or a nursing home. One of the quilts being worked on now has a sky that looks like northern lights. The fabric just went with the log cabin fabric choices so well, I couldn't resist it. Thank you for your patterns.
